What is the ideal tennis string?
Of course this differs from tennis player to tennis pllayer. We will try anyway! When choosing a tennis string, you should keep in mind the following qualities:
- long lifespan
- low price
- low loss of tension
- a lot of playability (a word which comprises the terms control, feeling and power)
Interrelation of the characteristics of tennis strings
- Unfortunately, the characteristics above can never be present in one and the same tennis string. The longer the lifespan of a tennis string, the thicker it is, but the less power, control and feeling.
- You can save money by buying tennis strings as a roll, instead of per set.
- When you put together all the 'ideal qualities' for the four most important kinds of tennis strings in a table and then quote them on a scale from 1 to 10, you arrive to the following, very general conclusions (in our opinion!):
