Tennis strings and stringing machines - Stringer service

If you order a new tennis racket from TennisPlanet UK we offer an additional stringing service, which means we can string a new racket with the tennis strings of your choice. TennisPlanet UK employ trusted, professional stringers who have worked with us for many years. Your brand new tennis racket will be strung on our best stringing machine - the StringUltra 800.

Types of strings

  •  Natural gut tennis strings offer optimum feel and power and are considered the most playable tennis strings. However, they do have a lower lifespan than other materials.
  • Nylon strings are the most common type of tennis string and are perfect for a normal amount of usage.
  • Polyester tennis strings have an excellent lifespan and are perfect  for control and keeping the ball in court.

Tennis string tension

  • Every player will string their tennis racket to a different tension depending on their personal preference and type of tennis strings.
  • The average stringing tension is around 26 kg, which is perfect if you're unsure what the best tension is.
  • More tension equates to more control, but also less power.

Thickness of tennis strings

  • Thicker strings on a tennis racket offer more durability, meaning you will break fewer strings and they will last longer.
  • Thinner tennis strings are less durable - They do offer more feeling and control but will require changing more regularly.
  • The average thickness for tennis strings is 1.20-1.40mm.

 Important

If you order a racket with our stringing service, it takes us one day to string your racket, so please add one or maximum two days to our usual delivery time.
