TennisPlanet UK's Guide to Tennis Grips
As a tennis player looking to buy new equipment, you may feel that having the right tennis racket, and perhaps some good quality tennis strings is the be-all and end-all. But don't be fooled - tennis racket grips are also extremely important.
Most amateur tennis players have all been there at some point in their career - you end up having to use, or borrow, an old tennis racket; a racket with a worn, uncomfortable, sticky grip. If you're really unlucky, you may have even picked up a tennis racket that combines reminisce of what used to be a grip, with several layers of duct tape.

It's amazing how many players don't bother to change their grips, or wait until they're at the point of no return to do so. Picking the right grip for you and changing it regularly can really improve the feel of a tennis racket and make your on-court experience even better.
There are two types of tennis grips - the main grip and the overgrip. Here you can view our wide range of tennis racket grips, or you can scroll down to see more information and our TennisPlanet recommendations.
Tennis Grips - Main Grips
About main grips
- The main grip is the standard grip that is attached to a tennis racket when you purchase it.
- A main grip will absorb a large amount of the vibrations created from striking a tennis ball.
- They play an important role in improving the comfort of a tennis racket
